New SNOW over night & SNOWING now! Looks to be 3 or 4 inches of NEW SNOW overnight. The even better news is COLD WEATHER is coming!
One more day where the night time temps do not drop into single digits but the good news is that tomorrow, Saturday it will be 30 for a high 5 for a low. The National Weather Service predicts these temps:
- Sunday – High 17 Low 2
- Monday – High 11 Low -9
- Tuesday – High 7 Low -10
- Wednesday – High 8 Low 2
The overnight lows in the single digits & below zero many nights will freeze up the packy snow building a hard base & ground will freeze hard & the snow on top will set. As you ride this weekend you will see trail snow breakdown until we get the the single digits at night.
The trails are in Early Riding Conditions which means conditions change really quickly as you ride so be aware. There may be snow ruts on Forestry Roads & trails we share with the hunters during hunting season. Icy conditions not only in the corners but even on the straight away. There has been icy heavy snow fall which knocks down trees & branches. Slush spots. Remember to stay on the trail surface & not venture off the trail. Last many lake trails are Not Open. Not Marked by the businesses. Not Safe! In Sno-Eagles Country Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are not open yet. Keep THINKING COLD.
The ONEIDA COUNTY TRAILS ARE OPEN. There are some trail sections that will not open. I am posting them here. If you are not sure of the location contact the Clubs directly.
- Minocqua Forest Riders Trail 5 in between trail 10 & trail 5A.
- Minocqua Forest Riders Trail 10 in between trail 9 & trail 10A.
- Three Lakes Trail 13 in between trail 217 & Alternate 13 trail.
- Willow Region Trail 5 in between trail 5b to the Lincoln County Line
Trail Boss Tom is going to keep the section of Trail 3 closed between the intersection of 17N & intersection of 10W/13N. For those of you familiar with Sno-Eagles Trails it is also called the Manske Swamp. You still can take 3 from 10W/13N to Conover. Also at 17N you can head east(right). Just the short section in between.
Alternate Trail 13S that heads down the grade south toward Three Lakes has slush & someone with a pick up truck drove down it & got stuck. This report was received later last night. Trail Boss Tom will go out after sun up to take a look & work on a solution after he sees what he is dealing with. Keep in mind you can be ticketed for driving on snowmobile trails with trucks, etc & could jeopardize trails as many trails are on private property & this is trespassing.
Hang in there the COLD is coming!
KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINK COLD!
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year & See ya at the Packer Party on Sunday & on the trails!
