Trail Report For: Sayner – 12/27/2014

Reported By: George – Sayner Barnstormers

Trail Report: Sayner

Date of Report: 12/27/2014

Trail Conditions: Unknown

Snow Cover: 5″ Average – On The Trail

Area Report: We have great news this beautiful Saturday morning! We have about 3 to 4 inches of fresh white platinum on the ground and it is still coming!!!

We have been busy – grooming grooming grooming. Later – more grooming.

The trails, thanks to new snow and grooming, I can happily report are mostly good. There will almost always be an icy corner, here and there, where the snow has been blown off from traffic and aggressive riders. There will almost always be a section here and there where tree cover is heavy, that may lack decent snow cover. These bad areas are becoming less and less and further apart, as we receive additional snowfall.

Plum and Star Lakes are both marked. We, as always, advise extreme caution when crossing. Stay by the marked crossing. If you can avoid it – Do not stop and converse on the lake. Wait for a land trail where it is wide enough to allow other traffic to pass. As we get more snow – slush holes could possibly develop. If you encounter slush, do not panic – stay on the throttle.

There will continue to be logging operations happening between the following intersection numbers; 205 & 353 on trail 6/10/11 and on 11/51 between 344 & 352. The Cross Country Cruisers also have logging going on out in that neck of the woods as well. Logging could start and/or stop at anytime without the club being notified, so please be ready to encounter logging equipment at anytime in these areas. Trucks are hauling out – so PLEASE be ready to get out of their way! Get off to the side if you can or as quickly as you can – turn around. These loggers are not out there to ruin your snowmobiling experience. They are out there trying to make a living. While they do plow snow off the trail, we ARE working with them the best we can, to leave as much as they can!

As always, PLEASE RIDE SAFE!!! Expect the unexpected. Respect especially the groomers and also fellow riders. You are not the only one on the trail, so always expect traffic to be coming at you around every corner. Slow down and ride another day!!!

News & Events: I will be adding a list of our 2014/2015 Fund Raisers when I have all of the time information available.

The Barnstormers have 15 groomer drivers this year, as usual, led by Trail Boss Dennis Horan! If you see one of them somewhere, be sure and ‘Thanks”!!! They all do an awesome job for the club and for you – the snowmobiler!!!
