Date of Report: 12/05/2014
Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: 1-3 feet
Area Report: Western U.P. Bureau Snowmobile Report
It is EARLY SEASON RIDING….For the remaining of the week daytime temps will be in the 20’s and low 30’s with lows in the teens at night. We have plenty of snow but our problem is the low lands and swampy areas, THEY ARE WET!!!! Please use extra caution in these areas.Watch for signs and DARK areas indicating water under the snow. Our groomers can’t get to some of these areas because of the water. Please be patient…hopefully they will freeze soon.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports that Trail 2 has been groomed to Marenisco, the wet spots are freezing and there is a good base. Trail 8 groomed and in good to excellent condition. 11n has not been groomed but has been packed, and has wet spots. They will have groomers on it over weekend. Trail 160 has been packed but not groomed, the tractor is out packing and removing snowbanks. Watch for wet spots.
Trail 11 south will be closed for logging
The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report: Since it is still early season riding the groomers are out on trails where it is possible. Trails 8 east, and 1 north will be in the best shape for riding with the driest conditions for the early season. Try to avoid trail 8 west. There are some bad areas of water on this trail. All the other trails will be very wet. Some good news with all this snow Trail 13 south will be completely open for opening season. This trail is still very wet and groomers have not been able to pack this trail yet.
The Watersmeet groomer’s report: The system has been groomed. Trails are in fair to good condition. There are some wet sots on Trail 2 between Trail 13N intersection and Marenisco, and also on Trail 13S heading to Rogers Bar and Cisco Chain. PLEASE NOTE: The Cisco Lake Resort is closed and was the only place on the chain that sold gasoline. Also, there may not be cones up on the lakes, so proceed with caution. Some land access points have been closed off of Cisco. Riders may have to stay on the road to get over the bridge to get to Lindsley Lake. Please use caution in this early season.
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.
JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
