Reported By: Gary Dalzell/Woodside Cottages
Trail Report: Bayfield
Date of Report: 01/26/2015
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 12″-14″
Area Report: The trails are the best they have been all season and the forest roads have a very solid base with a couple inches of fresh snow on top. Our cottage guests were very satisfied with the quality of the conditions.
Based on what I read, hear and have experienced, I believe that the Bayfield/Valhalla area provides the best riding conditions at this time. Sled traffic has been minimal thus the trails are able to maintain their base and allow the groomer to keep them in good to very good condition. We saw just two sleds during our ride on Sunday.
Ocerall, the trail have a good base. However, TR31/TR1/TR51 west of Bayfied and east of Cornucopia need more snow to fill in due to the warm weather and rain a few weeks back. The TR1 detour (Echo Valley to Henkens Rd. has been plowed due to logging operations thus that area are in poor condition. Conditions near the lake shore become thin due to lack of snow.
We have lodging availability at our cottages www.woodsidecottages. Come on up and enjoy our good riding and beautiful area.
