Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: Up to 11″ LES snow forecasted
Area Report: January 7, 2015 – Trail Conditions
To say that it is cold up here is quite an understatement! However, these frigid temperatures are just what we need to get our trails in great shape! Temperatures will remain below zero through the remainder of this week, and warming up into the high teens/low 20’s by the weekend. Cold temps complemented with lake effect snow and the possibility of up to 11” sounds like the recipe for an awesome weekend UP here on Lake Gogebic.
- All trails are improving with the exception of trail 102, which we are asked that you please avoid till further notice as there is quite a bit of water back in this area. Groomers should be installing a culvert on this trail today, and we will update you as we receive information. If you’re looking to get to Silver City you can either take 8 west and head up trail 11 or go up 1 north through White Pine.
- Trail 13 to Rockland is even rideable now, which is a big improvement over the last week.
Please use caution on the trails as well as the Lake and don’t forget your base layer! Remember to carry some safety items such as a flashlight, matches, extra gloves and hat. Cell phone batteries don’t last long in this type of weather, remember to make sure it is charged fully when you start out. When you have little signal and calls are difficult, you generally can text.
We always encourage our guests to check in with us and just let us know where you are heading out to, and we are usually available to help guests plan their daily route to include some great pit stops!
Trails maps and bandannas area available at the lodge as well as information on local sled rentals, repair and recovery (just in case)!
Rooms are filling fast with this upcoming great weather – so give us a call today to make sure your group gets the rooms that you want!
Be safe and have fun!
