Not only cold last night but some not forecast SNOW! Really windy. Blowing SNOW. And COLD again this morning. 8 below zero at 7:30am.
The National Weather Service predicts these temps:
- Wednesday – High 6 below Low 17 below
- Thursday – High 3 Low 10 below
- Friday – High 3 below Low 15 below
There is a Wednesday Ride this morning. Meet at 9am at the Railroad Depot on Trail 13 in town. In the area of Friendship House. The Thursday Ride has been CANCELLED due to the COLD
Here are some cold weather riding tips
- Dress for the cold – layers is best
- Do not ride alone
- Make sure that the ALL of the group you are riding with is with you. Good system is that each rider is responsible for the rider directly behind them. That way no one is left behind.
- Make sure your fuel tank is full
- Stop frequently to warm up – drink warm drinks
- Tell someone where you are headed
- Stay on the marked trails & bring a compass – there should be one in your phone.
- Watch for the brown 3 digit numbers on the trails. If you get into trouble you can call 911 & give them the number & they will be able to find you quickly.
Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are marked & OPEN. Stay by the barrels.
The section of Trail 3 is closed between the intersection of 17N & intersection of 10W/13N. For those of you familiar with Sno-Eagles Trails it is also called the Manske Swamp. There is slush but improving. Will open soon. Will be checked today. Stay tuned.
Alternate Trail 13S that heads down the grade south toward Three Lakes is improving. Slush pockets are freezing so there are rough patches. If you do not feel comfortable with the idea of driving through rough conditions DO NOT GO DOWN that way. We will keep you posted as it improves with the cold. It will be checked again today.
KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINK COLD!
See ya on the trails! But not today!
