Trail Report: Lake Gogebic
Reported By: AJ’s Walleye Lodge
Date of Report: 01/02/2015
Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: Moderate
Area Report: Happy New Year!!!
It’s cold outside– and it’s going to get colder over the next few days so just realize that and plan for that! But that deep freeze is exactly what we need in order to clear up some of the challenges that we’ve been experiencing on our trails. Trail conditions have improved, but there are still some wet areas and some areas are slower in freezing than others. We have snow predicted daily over the next few weeks and we will report back what actually accumulates.
Groomers have been able to get out on almost all trails. Please watch for them and be respectful of them.
Trail 1 North and 8 East still remain the best.
Trail 1 on the west shore of Gogebic is getting better after the reroute but the upper portion needs snow.
Watch for signs to show a change on trail 1 South from Rd. 8800 to Marenisco.
Trail 102 is still not worth riding, at least not for the next couple of days. We’re expecting more of the same cold plus more snow over this next week which will help to improve the trails greatly.
Trail 13 is a rugged ride.
8 West is a mess. Sleds are still going into the water about 9 miles west of Bergland. There is about a half mile of bad trail through there and people are going off trail into deep water.
13 South past the Root Celler still has some significant wet spots.
Watersmeet is in good condition.
We try to have a daily report for guests upon check in and Jim is usually available in the office to help you plan out your ride.
Please let us know about your experience – send us an email or comment on Face book. We like to keep everyone informed, have fun and safe!
Happy New Year to everyone and may 2015 be a wonderful year!
