Reported By: hollyt

Date of Report: 02/15/2015

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: Really hard thick base in most of Eagle River Trails – new loose snow on top

Area Report:

Trails are EXCELLENT
And all Groomed!

All land trails were groomed over night.  Drivers report no problems.  Just a lot of traffic even into the late night.  So as you ride today be aware that even though it is Sunday, a day when traffic usually slows down, that it is President’s Weekend & there will be a lot of traffic today too.

Over the last week there was about 5-6 inches new snow.  With the temperatures cold at night the trails are setting up & are smooth.  High traffic will change that so get out & ride early for best conditions.

Very cold this morning. 24 below at 7am. Here are the temperatures for the new few days from the National Weather Service

  • Sunday High 8 Low 3 below
  • Monday High 15 Low 0
  • Tuesday High 5 Low 9 below

Logging began Wednesday, February 4 on Trail 10W/13N.  The section starts where trail is on Croker Rd to where the trail turns right on the way to the Wisconsin River Bridge on the west side.  It will be marked but there will be logging equipment in there. The logging crew has done extra marking as it is winding on that trail section.  Keep checking for any changes on that section.  Slow down.

Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are marked & OPEN.  Stay by the barrels.  There are some bumps out there from the traffic so be careful. We do not groom the lake trails as the equipment is too heavy. Remember not all lakes are trails.

P.S.  On Sunday the Northern Lights Club Three Lakes Trails of Three Lakes has it annual Weenie Roast out on the Kimball Creek Trail-Three Lakes Trail 8.  Starts at 11am. Check their website for more details.

See ya on the trails this weekend!
