Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor
Reported By: Tammi the Trail Goddess
Date of Report: 02/04/2015
Trail Conditions: Very Good
Snow Cover: 25″ – 35″
Area Report: We are finally getting that snow that we so desperately needed! Only got a few inches yesterday, but it snowed all night and has been snowing on and off all day, with whiteout conditions! The lake effect snow is suppose to go all day today! YAY! All trails are being groomed 24/7 and all are open except for #122 between Lake Linden and Gay. You can use the start of #122 from Lake Linden to get to the Dreamland Trail. It’s a beautiful ride out to the Dreamland restaurant for some great food and beverages. The mat is down now under the bridge so please do not cross the lake. I know it looks safe, but it isn’t. I will tell you I told you so once your sled goes down! As far as I know, all the groomers are up and running and the trails are in much better shape than last week.
If you are looking to go for a little trip somewhere for some great riding, the Keweenaw/Houghton/Hancock area is perfect. You can ride north then south and there are many different loops you can take. And yes, of course, we really do have snow! And not just a few inches!
