Reported By: Sayner/Star Lake Barnstormers

Trail Report: Sayner

Date of Report: 02/27/2015

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Variable Inches On Trail

Area Report: .
The trails should be good for this weekend. I will not say it is pristine conditions, but it is pretty good out there considering the lack of decent snow fall in January and February. Its been a week since we got about 2 inches. Other than that; we have had a lot of lighter snow falls here and there. The cold temps, continued grooming, and little snow falls have held the trails in fair to an average of fair to good on average.

In my opinion, the trails are currently good on average out there, although aybe toward the lower end of the good range. Near town(s) and heavily traveled sections are snirty. Further away from town and especially lesser traveled sections are good to excellent.

It is supposed to be in the upper teens today (Friday), middle 20s tomorrow, and then upper 20s for the next three days. Hopefully, there will not be too much full sun mixed in with those upper 20s. The sun is getting more powerful by the day and will hurt the trails even if it is below 32.

Its that time of year that you need to ride when you can. As we get into March, they could be done in a heartbeat. Vilas County Trails CAN remain open until midnight March 31st – conditions permitting.

We still have logging operations working on Trail 51 between intersections 344 & 352 and on 6/11 between intersections 205 & 353. This will probably continue for the rest of the season. Please keep an eye out for logging ahead signs, logging equipment, and logging trucks. Do everything you can to get and stay out of their way. Please watch for their directions. These people are not out there to ruin your snowmobiling experience. They are out there trying to make a living.

As always, PLEASE RIDE SAFE!!! Expect the unexpected. Respect especially the groomers and also other riders. You are not the only one on the trail, so always expect traffic to be coming at you around every corner.
