Trail Report: St. Germain
Reported By: Ken Jackson – Jackson’s Lakeside Cottages
Date of Report: 02/02/2015
Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: 13 inches in woods
Area Report: We have only had about 4 inches of new snow in the last 2 weeks. The traffic on the St. Germain area trails was very high over the past 5 days. The only reason there is anything to ride on is the hard work of the Bo Boen Club grooming program. These guys have done a super job working with the snow we do have to make riding worthwhile. Now as far as conditions go;
There is a lot of icing in the corners on woods trails and high amounts of snirt in town, near road intersections and the north access of lake shorelines. We have had minimal sun, limiting melting, but that will begin to change soon as the angle of the sun gets higher in the sky at midday. Trails is the woods are good to very good for the most part. Lakes are bumpy, but slush is not that much of a factor. If you are planning a trip for this coming weekend, it is absolutely worth coming. But, we do need some snow to make it through to the end of February. Frigid temps Sunday through Tuesday will keep trails good. Our next chance of snow is looking like Wednesday or Thursday. Check bak and keep an eye on the Vilas/Oneida county forecasts.
