Snowmobile Trails in Sno-Eagles Country & all of Vilas County will remain open until Midnight, March 31. Snow & trail conditions permitting.
SNOWING AT 7AM! Dan was out grooming last night. He groomed the northern trails heading up to the Bauer’s Dam area. Also headed west & groomed the main trails over in that area. Plus Alternate 13. Sun was out yesteray so trails in the open have dropped to FAIR. I did not ride yesterday but riders told me in the woods is still GOOD and some is VERY GOOD. It is icy everywhere. If you have a sled that needs lots of lubrication be aware to dip in along the side of the trail to get some loose snow. Many corners are blown out & at the bottom of some it is burning through.
Tonight the east section will be groomed along with other high traffic trails.
The future temps are a bit uncertain especially starting Monday. Here is what National Weather Service is reporting as of this morning:
Saturday High 32 Low 10
Sunday High 34 Low 19
Logging continues on Trail 10W/13N. The section starts where trail is on Croker Rd to where the trail turns right on the way to the Wisconsin River Bridge on the west side. Coming from the east it is after you cross the Wisconsin River Bridge. It will be marked but there will be logging equipment in there. Rode through there yesterday & it is indeed marked well. Please slow down as you ride through there. There is logging in a few other areas in the County as well.
Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are marked & OPEN. Stay by the barrels. the sun in March is out longer & there is a ton of ice covered with a ton of snow. There could be surface slush. No ice melting. Snow on top melting. Steady as you go through it. Not all lakes are trails.
KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINK COLD!
See ya on the trails!
