Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Hard shiny icy base with wet snow & some burn through

Area Report:

Trails Are GOOD to FAIR
Snowmobile Trails in Sno-Eagles Country & all of Vilas County will remain open until Midnight, March 31.  Snow & trail conditions permitting.

Very light snow and 19 degrees at 7:30am  2 groomers were out last night.  Big Blue ran the east trails along with Alternate Trail 13.  Prinoth out with Trail Boss Tom and the Prinoth Tech grooming.

Traffic east of Eagle River was pretty high yesterday.  Lots of riders up riding. No sun yesterday & it looks like no sun today will keep trails in place but snow is soft. Plenty of snirt on the road crossings.  Trail on roads are breaking down.  Very icy underneath.  Many corners are blown out with clear ice and some burn through at the bottom of the corners.

The future temps are a bit uncertain especially starting Monday.  Here is what National Weather Service is reporting as of this morning:

  • Sunday High 37 Low 18
  • Monday High 43 Low 28
  • Tuesday High 45 Low 23

Logging continues on Trail 10W/13N. The section starts where trail is on Croker Rd to where the trail turns right on the way to the Wisconsin River Bridge on the west side.  Coming from the east it is after you cross the Wisconsin River Bridge. It will be marked but there will be logging equipment in there. Rode through there yesterday & it is indeed marked well.  Please slow down as you ride through there.  Logging will also begin shortly on trail section along Hwy G west of Eagle River around Pickerel Lake Road.

Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are marked & OPEN.  Stay by the barrels.  When the sun is out in March it is out longer & there is a ton of ice covered with a ton of snow.  There is surface slush.  No ice melting.  Snow on top melting.  Steady as you go through it. Not all lakes are trails.

See ya on the trails!
