Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: Icy but mushy in some areas
Snowmobile Trails in Sno-Eagles Country & all of Vilas County will remain open until Midnight, March 31. Snow & trail conditions permitting.
Trail Boss Tom has stopped grooming to preserve the base on the trails. The temps have risen & the sun is out. There is ice on most trails with the exception of trails that are in the direct sun. Examples would be trails along the roads that also have the liquid salt that floated onto them. Wide open fields. Trails that are on the north side along roads. In the woods there is still Good riding. But with the temperatures continuing to rise this may change as well. It is good that there was a fair amount of riders up enjoying what may be the last ride of the season.
The future temps are a bit uncertain starting. Here is what National Weather Service is reporting as of this morning:
Monday High 44 Low 28
Tuesday High 52 Low 25
Wednesday High 45 Low 24
Thursday High 46 Low 27
Logging continues on Trail 10W/13N. The section starts where trail is on Croker Rd to where the trail turns right on the way to the Wisconsin River Bridge on the west side. Coming from the east it is after you cross the Wisconsin River Bridge. It will be marked but there will be logging equipment in there. Rode through there yesterday & it is indeed marked well. Please slow down as you ride through there. Logging will also begin shortly on trail section along Hwy G west of Eagle River around Pickerel Lake Road.
Eagle Lake Trail & Catfish Lake Loop are marked & OPEN. Stay by the barrels. When the sun is out in March it is out longer & there is a ton of ice covered with a ton of snow. There is surface slush. From the sun being out. Steady as you go through it. Not all lakes are trails.
KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINK COLD!
See ya on the trails!
