Trail Report: Sayner
Date of Report: 03/08/2015
Trail Conditions: Poor
Snow Cover: Varies!
Area Report: .
Its 13 degrees this morning in Sayner. Traffic yesterday was very heavy. The temp got up to about 34. Between that, the heavy traffic, and the sun popping out occasionally – the trails took a hit. Still great riding further away from towns but its getting harder to get to it. Snirty sections have grown and hard & icy sections have grown. That makes it almost impossible for our groomers to find anything to work with in many sections. When its this hard & icy in so many areas, its also hard on sliders and there is little loose snow for cooling. Corners are especially icy. Let’s be careful out there. Forecasted temps don’t look good for the next 7 days. A lot of 40s with too much sun. Too much sun = we’re done – at least until we get a good dumping of snow. The trails CAN remain open until midnight of March 31st.
We still have logging operations working on Trail 51 between intersections 344 & 352 and on 6/11 between intersections 205 & 353. This will probably continue for the rest of the season. Please keep an eye out for logging ahead signs, logging equipment, and logging trucks. Do everything you can to get and stay out of their way. Please watch for their directions. These people are not out there to ruin your snowmobiling experience. They are out there trying to make a living.
As always, PLEASE RIDE SAFE!!! Expect the unexpected. Respect especially the groomers and also other riders. You are not the only one on the trail, so always expect traffic to be coming at you around every corner.
