Trail Report For: Watersmeet – 03/12/2015

Trail Report: Watersmeet

Reported By: Carole Yakel of The Arrows for the Watersmeet Chamber of Commerce

Date of Report: 03/12/2015

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 15-20″

Area Report: “And now the end is near…” Yesterday our guests said the morning and early afternoon sledding were “awesome”. By the time 4 to 4:30 p.m. rolled around, things had turned really nasty with 57.2 degree high here. The U. P. Thunder Riders had their meeting last night, and all grooming is now over for the year. We went from -10 to -30 degree nights a week ago to highs of almost 60 the following week…a 90 degree difference!!! Even though Trail 2 west and except near the viaduct area and Trail 8 were still in great shape yesterday afternoon, it’s highly unlikely that much of the trails will hold up to survive the rest of the weekend even. At this time, it’s pretty much over. This is WAY too early and not the norm.

We want to thank you for choosing the Watersmeet area for your snowmobile getaways this year. We hope you had a wonderful time and are already thinking about your next year’s sledding plans. It’s been the pleasure of all the area businesse people that had a part in making your vacation a fun one this year. We know you have many choices in vacation destinations and hope that your choice to come here left you with wonderful memories forever.

We invite you to visit our website at www.watersmeet.org, email me at visit@watersmeet.org, or call Caryl DeBroder at our Chamber phone 906-358-9961 (the phone is in Caryl’s home and most of the time, you will really get to talk to her!). We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks again for making this a special year for all of us here, too. Although we have lots of snow yet, we know it will soon be gone, but by next October or for sure November, it will be back! We look forward to your visits when the season opens on December 1, 2015.

Carole Yakel
