Trail Report For: Oconto County – 12/30/2015

Trail Report: Oconto County

Reported By: Oconto County Tourism

Date of Report: 12/30/2015

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-9

Area Report: Townsend (Red Arrow) – We got about 8-10? of fresh snow last night. We will be going out grooming today to see how it pans out on the trails. Check back later tonight or tomorrow morning to see if the trails will be open tomorrow. I hope it goes well for everybody wants to do what we love.

If they open, riders beware of areas where large rocks may protrude through the base as well as tire ruts created by truck traffic during the hunting season. They both could prove to be deadly if you don’t keep your guard up during early riding..

Lakewood (Paul Bunyan Riders) Grooming today and trails will open Wednesday, December 30th at noon.

Bagley Brazeau Trails – will open Wednesday, December 30th with early riding conditions. The area received 6-8 inches of snow and the forest trail are in good conditions, however due to high winds and blowing snow most of the fields are without snow cover. Some areas of the trail have open standing water. The trail from Kelly Lake to Suring will remain closeduntil standing corn in the fields is harvested. Trails will not be groomed at this time as in many areasthe ground is too soft for the weight of the groomer. Stay off of all lakes as they are not safe. Ride with caution and be mindful of open water and bare spots.

Chute Pond Trails – will open Wednesday, December 30th at noon! Snow Depths vary greatly throughout our trail system and so do trail conditions. Trails north and west of Mountain will be groomed and in fair early season condition. Trails south and east of Mountain will be mostly ungroomed until the low areas freeze up. The Nicolet State Trail (Corridor 7) will be panned from Suring north to the Halfway Bar.
