Area Report: –
I do have a little bit of good news! The area received about 2 inches of heavy wet snow early this morning when the rain finally switched to snow. It is a start. If we can hold this heavy wet layer – it will make a nice base layer as it freezes down.
Trail Boss Dennis Horan reports that our non-gated trails received a lot of damage from 4X4 trucks. They are rutted really terrible on Trails 11, 51, 6, & 9 – mostly on the western portions of our system. It will take a significant amount of snow to fill these ruts and end up with a smooth trail. There is also logging going on in the area of and on the Portage Trail. They should be out of there before the lakes are frozen enough to cross, so it should not be an issue.
So keep doing your snow dances and pray for cold!!! What we have is a start but not enough!
