Trail Report For: Sayner – 12/28/2015

Reported By: Sayner/Star Lake Barnstormers

Trail Report: Sayner

Date of Report: 12/28/2015

Trail Conditions: Trails Closed

Snow Cover: 2 +/- inches

Area Report: –
It has been made official that Vilas County Trails open at 8AM on Wednesday.

Please keep in mind that we have not even received one flake yet from this approaching storm. If this storm turns out to be a bust; what will the trails be like? SPOTTY at best!!! I won’t speak as to ANY particular hazard(s) on any other club’s system. Check their reports for their conditions.

On the Barnstormer’s system – it will be spotty no matter what and very much in an “Early Season” condition. Our western trails, which are not gated, got rutted terribly from trucks and very wet conditions. It will take more than this storm coming in later today to make these areas completely safe and/or smooth. The rest of our system will not have much snow cover unless we get this storm. If we do get this storm, it will still be spotty at best until we get more snow – hopefully later on Wednesday. Always be ready to come up on a chuck hole in the trail that is not filled yet.

Lakes – STAY OFF!!! Most bigger lakes were still open a day ago. Smaller lakes were frozen. DO NOT CROSS any lake unless there is a marked crossing.
