Trail Report For: Sayner – 12/30/2015

Reported By: Sayner/Star Lake Barnstormers

Trail Report: Sayner

Date of Report: 12/30/2015

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 6 to 8 inches +/-

Area Report: –
The first 3 things to know:
1 Lakes are not yet safe
2 Stay off the lakes
3 Do NOT attempt to cross any bodies of water

Our snowfalls for this season have been very spotty. Amounts will vary greatly. SO, trail conditions will vary greatly from not rideable to good and everything in between. The most recent system that was supposed to bring us up to 8 inches, only gave us 3 inches. We did get another inch last night and early this morning.

We do not have any swamps or wet areas on the Barnstormer’s trail system but other areas do. DO NOT attempt to cross any swamps and if you see water on a trail – DO NOT go through it.

We panned all of our trails yesterday. Trail 51, from the Erickson Lake Boat Landing area, across Witches Lake Rd (TIN 361) and up to around TIN 352 had terrible ruts from 4X4 trucks and the wet conditions before and around hunting season. There was NOT enough snow to completely fill all of those ruts. Extreme caution is advised or try to completely avoid 51.

Extreme caution is advised on all our trails. There are a lot of sections that are really great considering this time of year and lack of snow & cold. But don’t get spoiled by a great section and run wide open. You could come up on a chuck hole in the trail that could not be filled yet.

To sum it up- we have early season conditions to the extreme. These conditions will require your safest riding you can possibly do. Lets start off the season safe.

Slow down and live to ride another day!!!
