Reported By: Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce
Date of Report: 01/14/2016
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 3-14 inches
Area Report: The snowmobile trails throughout Ashland County are OPEN and in good condition!
Nearly all of the Ashland County trails have now been groomed and all are in good shape. The only section that has not been groomed is Trail 11 from Long Lake Road south.
“There’s still open water and some swamps down that way,” noted Bill Chandler of Mellen, president of the Ashland County Snowmobile Alliance.
The Tri-County Recreational Corridor was groomed again this week and is also good condition.
“For the most part, the county trails are all rideable and in good shape, so get out there this weekend and ride to your heart’s content,” Chandler said.
The Dead Horse Run Trail in southern Ashland County from Clam Lake to Loretta is being groomed today, Thursday, Jan. 14.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Trail 13 (State Corridor 21) remains CLOSED due to lack of adequate snow cover and open water on the trail from Butternut to Price County.
ALSO – A detour route has been posted on Trail 9 from Ashland to Sanborn.
Important reminder: There is NO snowmobiling allowed from Ashland to Bad River/Odanah as snowmobiling is not permitted on reservation land. However, snowmobiling is allowed from Bad River east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
