Trail Report: Bayfield
Reported By: Gary Dalzell, Woodside Cottages
Date of Report: 01/21/2016
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 18″-24″
Area Report: The Bayfield/Valhalla area received 8″ of good quality Lake Effect Snow the past weekend which will help the base on the groomed trails. The groomer was working the trails on Tuesday and they should be in good to very good condition by the weekend.
TR1 west of Bayfield had not been groomed due to wet conditions and lots of down trees and branches. Some of the areas in the creek bottoms of TR31N and TR51 have an ice base and they need more snow to get them up to good Winter condition.
The numbered Forest Roads provide good to very good riding as there is lots of fresh snow, The FR’s have a very good base. Remember that the FR’s are not groomed and do not have signs. Be cautious and there are hanging branches and trees on many of the FR’s.
We had a dozen guests ride with us the past weekend and they all had a great time riding in the fresh powder and breaking trail with up to two feet of snow in spots.
We have lodging available which you can check out at our website www.woodsidecottages.com
Come on up. The riding is great!!
