Trail Report: Eagle River

Reported By: hollyt

Date of Report: 01/17/2016

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6-8

Area Report:

VILAS COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAILS OPEN
TRAILS REMAIN IN VERY EARLY RIDING CONDITION
RATING FAIR.

Rode early last evening.  5 below but found the trails much better than I thought.  Most were snow covered with icy base.  The Grade, Alternate Trail13S was Good.  Grade was snow covered both directions.  Section heading south from Dairy Queen to 10E intersection was better than Good.  Grade is frozen all the way to Three Lakes. Going north through town on the Grade was also snow cover but thinner.  Did not go north out of town but was told by reliable riders it was Fair to Good out that way too.  10 going east is snow cover some thinner spots but still had snow. Road I rode were snow covered but ice underneath.

There is ice under the snow everywhere so slow down.  Bad accident yesterday on Alternate 13S and a fatality in Land o Lakes.  It sounds like both were due to speed.  Slow down.

Bo & Brooke were out grooming last night catching most of the system in Eagle River. There has been a lot of traffic. Did not groom 10W/13N-Wisconsin River Bridge.  Letting it freeze tighter.

As you ride if you find a problem please call Trail Boss Tom at 715.617.0917 OR 715.617.4708 to report.

CATFISH LAKE LOOP & EAGLE LAKE TRAILS ARE BOTH MARKED WITH ORANGE REFLECTIVE BARRELS & OPEN! As you ride stay by the barrels because the entire lakes may/are not safe. Section running up the hill to Lumpy’s is not open yet. You can get to Lumpy’s off of 10E at Bloom Rd.  Right on Bloom to left on Spruce.  Lumpy’s straight ahead.

These are conditions in Sno-Eagles Country not all of Vilas County.

Did you remember to buy your New required Trail Pass?  Call me 715.617.4708 if you need help OR Club President, Ken Storms at 715.479.5599 or email to president@sno-eagles.org  The turn around for the Discount $10 Pass is 7-10 days.  The $30 version is available at Holiday North & South.
