Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor
Reported By: Tammi the Trail Goddess at Dan’s Recreation
Date of Report: 01/16/2016
Trail Conditions: Excellent
Snow Cover: 25″-35″ and more falling
Area Report: We are smack dab in the middle of a snow storm! Snow has been falling so fast, sometimes an inch and hour! Suppose to get a least a foot by tomorrow. The trails will be in fantastic shape tomorrow after the groomers get out there. I imagine right now there is some super powder out there on the trails. This snow will make riding off trail pretty safe. All the trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor will have great snow and will be groomed.
If you want to get out riding in the best snow of the season, get your sleds ready and head up north to the Keweenaw. If you need a sled, give me a call at Dan’s and I can rent you one.
Remember when you are out riding to respect other riders, respect private property, STAY OFF THE WATER, it is not safe.
Please stay on the marked groom trails while riding along the waterfront in Houghton and through the park there, otherwise access through there will be cut off to riders.
Happy riding and see you on the trails!
