Townsend – Red Arrow Trails – We will be out grooming this week to put trails in the best possible condition we can with the limited amount of snow for the groomer to move into the holes on the trails. Again the Nicolet State Trail is stony so watch out, and the woods are better but need snow.
Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Riders – The groomers were out last night to see what could be done. The trails in the woods smoothed out a little with no new snow to work with. Trail boss Jack Bailey said the swampy areas are frozen solid. The Nicolet State Trail (rail road grade) has lot of gravel showing due to the heavy traffic. The wooded trails have a lot more snow to work with and Jack rates the trails as poor on the grade to good in some areas in the woods. You can still ride but avoid the grade if possible. (Update from 1/17/16)
Chute Pond Snowmobile Trails – The Chute Pond Snowmobile Club trails are open, but because of lack of snow, we are not grooming at this time. Our overall trail condition is “poor to fair early season”. The Nicolet State Trail (Corridor 7 RR grade) is thin and poor, with mostly gravel in many places. Wooded trails are mostly white and snow covered and vary in condition- mostly fair early season condition- with ruts, exposed rocks, dips, and bumps due to lack of snow cover.
We are expecting around 3″ of fresh snow tonight, and that would really help improve trail conditions-we need more snow before conditions improve enough to start grooming again. Please note that the ice formed very late on all area lakes. Stay safe- stay off the lakes until you know it’s safe.
Bagley & Brazeau Trails – Trails are 100% open but only the forest roads have been groomed. As of last weekend they were icy. Waiting for more snow before we can groom, again.
Gillett – Trails are Open.
Chase Sno-Chasers – Trails are CLOSED.
Lena Trails – CLOSED.
Oconto Falls Trails – CLOSED.
