Area Report: See below for status of Oneida County trails and specifically around Rhinelander:

With the exception of the trail closures listed below, the majority of the Oneida County State Funded
Snowmobile Trail System (as administered by the Oneida County Forestry, Land, & Outdoor
Recreation Department) will officially open for the 2015-2016 winter season at 8:00 a.m. on
Saturday, January 2, 2016.
The Following Oneida County Trails will remain closed until further notice.
All Three Lakes Area trails remain closed.
All Hodag / Rhinelander Area trails remain closed.
Willow Region Area:
The segment of Trail 5 from Lincoln/Oneida County Line north to the intersection of Trails 5 and 8.
Minocqua Forest Riders Area
1. Trail 5 remains closed from Trail Intersection Number (TIN)-618 to TIN-658
2. Trail 5A remains closed from TIN-651 to TIN-654
3. Trail 5B remains closed from TIN-656 to TIN-662
4. Trail 9 remains closed from TIN-604 to TIN-605 (trail to the Black Bear Bar)
All lake trails in Oneida County remain closed and are considered unsafe until they have been
clearly marked by a local snowmobile club.
These trails will remain closed until conditions permit. Oneida County assumes no liability for the
safety of lake trails.

A few swampy areas around Rhinelander are impassable at this point. Club members have been busy packing the trails with sleds to help freeze up the soft /wet areas. Hopefully, with the colder temperatures in the forecast, the trails in the Rhinelander area can open soon.

Please join a local club. It takes a lot of time and effort to maintain the trail system.
