Trail Report For: Ashland County – 02/24/2016

Trail Report: Ashland County

Reported By: Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce

Date of Report: 02/24/2016

Trail Conditions: Unknown

Snow Cover: 3-10 inches

Area Report: The snowmobile trails throughout Ashland County are OPEN, groomed and in good condition.

Despite warm weather last week, groomers report the trails still have decent snow cover with the only bare spots at this time occurring on streets in towns serving as connector trails. The cold front that moved in over the weekend had allowed them to resume grooming operations, but they have since backed off on that due to icy conditions.
Snowmobilers are urged to be extremely careful and exercise due caution as the trails are very slick.
The Tri-County Recreational Corridor from Ashland west to Superior is being groomed at least three times a week and is also in good shape for riding.

NOTE: A temporary detour route has been posted on Trail 9 from Ashland to Sanborn.

The Tri-County Recreational Corridor, a 62-mile stretch of abandoned railroad right-of-way running from Ashland to Superior, is always OPEN in the winter.

Reminder: There is NO snowmobiling allowed from Ashland to Bad River/Odanah as snowmobiling is not permitted on reservation land. However, snowmobiling is allowed from Bad River east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

If you call after 5 or on the weekends, you will hear the snowmobile hotline recording.)
