Trail Report: Bayfield
Reported By: Gary Dalzell, Woodside Cottages
Date of Report: 02/22/2016
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 12-16″ just a guess
Area Report: The trails were in the best shape of the Winter and then the rain started on Friday. In spite of that, the most sections of the trails west and north of Valhalla towards Bayfield held up quite well. We had 31 riders out of cottages this weekend and they all enjoyed the conditions in spite of the weather.
Once the groomer goes through the system this week, the trails will be hard due to the moisture in the snow base. The area received a light snow overnight which will help restore the conditions and there is some light snow in the forecast this week. Except some icy corners and a variety of conditions, depending on the trail and terrain..
Exceptions will be the low spots of TR31 north and TR51 and sharp corners. Some of them were thin on Saturday. We will do more work onTR1 west of Bayfield towards Cornie between Henken Rd. and Echo Valley Rd today which will allow the groomer to resume grooming.
Expects some ruts on the forest roads as conditions were very soft due to the rain and warm temps. Some of the FR’s are rough and could use a good dump of snow which likely won’t happen in the next ten days. But there are still a good number of FR’s that offer good the very good riding.
We have availability at our cottages this week and we will be riding with our guests starting Wednesday.
