Snow Cover: 14-18 inches
Area Report: Ely Area Lakes: All Ely area lakes have been staked. It is recommended that snowmobilers stay on the staked trails to avoid issues with slush.
Taconite Trail: Trail Condition: good Trail groomed: yes Trail base: 2-4 inches Trail is has been completely groomed and is in good condition. Portions of the trail may have exposed rock or ice flows, so please use caution while traveling.
Arrowhead Trail: Trail condition: good Trail groomed: yes Trail base: 3-5 inches The entire trail has been groomed. Portions of the trail may have exposed rocks, so please trail with caution.
Putnam-Fishing Lakes Trail: Trail condition: good Trail base: 2-4” Trail groomed: yes
Lake Vermilion State Park and Soudan Underground Mine State Park: Trail condition: good Trail base: 2-4” Trail has been groomed and is in good condition.
Taconite Spur Trails and Stony Spur Trails: Trails have been groomed. Some rough areas exist, so use caution while traveling.
Tomahawk Trail & Local Trails: The entire Tomahawk Trail has been groomed. There will be no more grooming between Ely and the Mattila Shelter until the area receives more snow. Some rough areas exist, so please use caution while traveling.
