Reported By: Tammi the Trail Goddess at Dan’s Recreation
Date of Report: 02/08/2016
Trail Conditions: Very Good
Snow Cover: 30″ to 40″
Area Report: Another great weekend here in the Keweenaw! Temps got a little warm, trails were a bit scooty by afternoon. But temps are back to normal today and we have been getting 2-4″ inches everyday to keep the trails fresh. Suppose to get up to 6″ tonight. Temps will be cooler during the week, then warm up again Sunday. Should be a beautiful President’s Weekend of riding. The trails will be crazy up here, so if you can wait and come Tuesday thru Thursday next week, I would advise it. All groomers are up and running and grooming all trails. There is a reroute on trail 133 and some logging on the south Freda trail, so be aware.
Please, when out riding, slow down. There have been several deaths in the UP this winter, and speed was a factor in all of them.
When out on the trails, respect others and private property, stay off the water unless it is marked for riding, and save the drinking for when you are done riding.
Please stay on the trail when going through the park on the Houghton waterfront. Don’t be the *ss that ruins it for everyone else!!
