Area Report: Townsend – Red Arrow Trails – It’s 28 degrees in beautiful downtown Townsend this morning. It looks like your snow dances are about to pay off. We are under a Winter Storm Warning for Tuesday into Wednesday with 7″- 12″ of snow in store for the greater Townsend area. We will be out grooming during the event to ensure the best trails possible in the area.
Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Trails – The trails took a beating Saturday and had little traffic Sunday due to the rain. We are expecting snow Tuesday so we will be grooming if the weather man is right. The temperatures for the up coming weekend are well below freezing so if we do get the snow the trails will hold up well so cross your fingers.
Bagley & Brazeau Trails – Open
Chute Pond – Chute Pond trails are open, not being groomed at this time, and in overall poor early season condition. Heavy weekend traffic and the warm, wet weather have beaten the trails down to slushy gravel in many areas. We are expecting a nice dump of fresh snow in a storm heading our way Monday and Tuesday. The groomers are ready to head out onto the trails as soon as the snow falls- let’s hope the weatherman’s forecast is right this time.
Also, be aware the groomer broke through on the trail north of Hwy W near the old Pine Grove- use extra caution in this area, which also has not been groomed. On all trails, watch for ruts and dips that haven’t filled in yet, and an occasional exposed rock here and there.
Remember to watch out for the groomers, and if you come across one, stop and wait for the driver to signal that it’s safe to pass by.
Gillett – Open
Oconto Falls – The trails will be in “early season” conditions. Please respect our landowners and STAY ON THE TRAIL.
Chase Trails – Trails are groomed and in fair to good condition. Please use caution in plowed fields.
