Trail Report: Oconto County

Reported By: Oconto County Tourism

Date of Report: 02/11/2016

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2-5

Area Report: Townsend Red Arrow Trails – the trails are freshly groomed and are in pretty darn good condition, and all is right in the riding world! Yes after the beating they took over the weekend, the drivers tell me they groomed out very well last night, all things considered. Be watchful of a rock here and there, but with the cold they should hold up quite well all week long. We will make sure they stay that way as well. I apologize to those of you who rode yesterday, but it was just to warm to go out and groom Sunday night. also be aware of an icy corner here and there, they showed up with the warm weather.

Lakewood Paul Bunyan Trails – The groomers were out all day grooming the trails the best they can be with the snow we have left after a very high amount of traffic over the weekend. The trails are smooth but showing some rocks and dirt. We rate them from fair to good. 2/8/2016

Chute Pond Trails – Chute Pond trails are open, and we are grooming when weather and conditions permit. Our trails are freshly groomed- flat and hard- and are in overall good to very good riding condition. The north end of the pipeline still has some deep gullies and dips, and the 18 Corridor wooded trail to Crooked Lake has a few rough spots on the eastern end.

Please remember to watch out for the groomers. If you come across one on the trail, stop and wait for the driver to signal that it’s safe to pass by.

The trails will stay in better shape a lot longer if you don’t “ride it like you stole it”- especially in the corners. Please take it easy- and leave some snow on the trail for the next guy.

Bagley & Brazeau Trails – Groomers were out today and will also be out on Thursday and Friday. The groomer drivers said that the trails are in good condition with some bare spots on the open fields. One area that will not be groomed again this week, is the trail just west of Peshtigo Brook Fire Rd., This trail is west of White Potato Lake area going north or south on the marsh trail because of wet conditions. We tired to groom the marsh today but with no luck. If more snowmobiles ride this trail, we may be able to groom this trail soon.

Gillett – Trails are Open!

Oconto Falls Sno Jokers Trails – Trails are open.

Lena Snow Drifters – Trails are open and in fair condition.

Chase Sno-Chasers Trails – Trails are open.
