Date of Report: 02/18/2016
Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: 2-5
Area Report: Townsend – Red Arrow Trails -It’s 13 degrees this morning in beautiful downtown Townsend and the trails are in good to very good condition, and freshly groomed last night.
Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Trails – The trails were groomed again yesterday before the big warm up. They groomed out well but the areas on the grade that receive direct sun had some standing water on them. The sun is getting a lot more powerful later in the season. How the trails hold up in this warm spell will depend on how much sun versus clouds we get. Ride now just incase.
Chute Pond Trails – Chute Pond trails are open, and we are grooming when weather and conditions permit. Our trails are in overall good riding condition right now. Exceptions- the Nicolet State Trail (RR grade) has some very gravelly stretches just north and just south of Mountain and is in poor condition in those areas. The north end of the pipeline still has some deep gullies and dips, and the 18 Corridor wooded trail to Crooked Lake has a few rough spots on the eastern end.
We got 2-3″ of fluffy snow early this week, and the groomers are out today and tomorrow- packing down the loose snow in preparation for the rain and 40 degree temps on Friday and even warmer Saturday and Sunday. Please do your part by staying off the trails when temperatures are in the 40’s- to help preserve the little base we have.
Bagley & Brazeau Trails – Groomers were out Tuesday and Wednesday The groomer drivers said that the trails are in good condition with some bare spots on the open fields. The new trail going to Suring is not good, we need more snow to get it flat. The temps this weekend will be in the upper 40’s so try not to rip up the trails this weekend.
Gillett Sno Riders – Trails are Open.
Suring – Trails are Open.
Oconto Falls – CLOSED.
Lena Snowdrifters- CLOSED.
Chase Sno-Chasers – Trails are open.
