Trail Conditions: Fair
Snow Cover: 2-4
Area Report: Townsend – Red Arrow Trails – Woke to 2 1/2″ of fresh snow yesterday morning. The groomers went out midday and worked into the night. The report is the Nicolet groomed out smoothly and has it’s gravel covered at least for now. The trails on the east side of town are pretty darn nice, but watch for an icy corner. The west side is darn nice as well, with the exception of the hill country where there are rocks and holes we had no snow to fill them with. so be careful in this area but have fun. Mid-week riding should be good, and we hope they will be fine for the weekend as well. As always the amount of traffic makes a difference. If we stay cold they should hold up well.
Lakewood – Paul Bunyan Trails – Monday afternoon February 22nd 3:30 pm. The Lakewood area received a average of 2 1/2 inches of a wetter snow than we had last week. The south end toward Mountain was only a inch or less and to the east toward Silver Cliff trails was about a 1 1/2. The area toward Cathedral Pines was close to 3 inches. We have all the groomers out doing the best we can with what we have to work with. Trail boss Jack Bailey said they are grooming out well and the dips are filling in. There is a few warm days coming our way starting tomorrow but toward the weekend we will be below normal so we should get some decent riding in. The grade still has water in the dips but the exposed gravel is covered at this time. Come up to Lakewood and enjoy a mid week ride.
Chute Pond Trails – Chute Pond trails are open, and the groomers will go out today to see what magic they can work with the small amount of fresh snow we got yesterday. Our trails are in overall fair condition. Trails are better in the woods- the Nicolet State Trail has many poor stretches- thin and gravelly. Most trails are lightly snow covered on top of a mostly ice base with some bare spots. Ride with caution- there are rough spots and icy corners. More snow is needed to improve conditions.
Bagley & Brazeau Trails – The trail conditions are poor to very poor. We will not be grooming for now but if we get 3″ or more of snow we can groom the trails. The fields are bare and the forest trails are ice and snow covered. We did get about 1.5″ of snow today.
Gillett, Oconto Falls, Lena and Chase Area are all CLOSED.
