Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor
Reported By: Tammi the Trail Goddess at Dan’s Recreation
Date of Report: 03/07/2016
Trail Conditions: Poor
Snow Cover: 18″ to 30″
Area Report: This warm weather has surely put a hurting on the trails this weekend. All trails in the Keweenaw are still open at this point, but not being groomed unless we get some new snow. Getting around in town is tough, roads and gas stations are bare. The trails still have snow on them, but are very dirty in town, with some bare spots cropping up. Once you get out of town, there is more snow and less dirt on the trails and riders are reporting that its not horrible! If it rains like they are predicting tomorrow, that will pretty much be the end of the trails.
So, we are taking it day by day here in the Keweenaw. Still sleds out there today, enjoying what may be the last day of riding!
I will keep you updated daily.
