91 polaris 650 rxl e.f.i. problem????

so here's the problem, the sled will start great on the second pull every time and idle's fine, but when you go to accelerate the sled really comes up good in power but shortly "seconds" into moving along the power fades out and will not return until you stop, let the machine idle for a minute or two then you can repeat. the sled will maintain 45 to 50 approx mph but with low power. any suggestions?? i've put new primary and secondary springs in and the clutches seem to be fine. the sled never misses or sputters at all. would it be wrong to think that the fuel pump could be weak or a problem in the fuel regulator? to top everything off i live in missouri and i'm not able to ride much as is so today we got an inch or so and i had to get it out. any suggestions will be much appreciated, thanks. oh the sled has done this from the moment i bought it too, not just all of a sudden.

did you replace the battery?
If the battery is weak the sled will run but only at limp mode a low power almost idle speed. My buddy has a 650 RXL with EFI and if the battery was old thats all it would do. same for my other friends 95 Indy 500 EFI.

just bought a new battery and charged it a week ago. i've also pulled the fuel filter to check it and it seem to be fine. spark plugs look good and not fouled, clutches are now rebuilt. i have not done a compression test yet but i don't think it would run great for a few seconds and then fade out with low compression

Have You checked the fuel pickup valve in the fuel tank? May have never been changed in the 18 years.

Sounds like a fuel injector problem . I have a 95 650 RXL . Check to see if you have any codes coming up on the computer . I have listed a set of codes on here .
