Just wondering how other people break in a new belt? I just put it on and try to ride at a steady speed for a few miles.

Balls to the wall......Accept? A few easy miles is probably the best, so you don't glaze it.
maybe a low 130, I dunno, maybe nice n easy might be better

I have never "broken-in" a belt in my life, I just drive it as I normally would. My current sled has over 3,000 miles on the original belt, and it's still in great shape. As a matter of fact, I seem to get great life out of all my belts, without ever "breaking them in". However, I am religious about raising the back of the sled in the morning, and warming up the belt and track before I drive off. I think that is more important than any sort of break-in period.

Best thing to do is wash the belt with mild soap and water and soft bristle brush to get the storage carp and dirt off before use'n it...

I'll typically run my belts for 5 -10 miles prior to really punching the throttle for the trail sled. I broke in all of the belts for my mountain sled the same way. I'm not to interested in throwing on a fresh belt out west before taking a climb and having one fail, lol.

I dont know if every sled has a different recomendation but ive read to ride 30 miles avoiding hard acceleration, w.o.t.

i think i read some place to break in a new belt do not keep a constant speed. Graduly go faster and slower never hit wot. goal is to warm belt to operating temp then ease into all the positions of the clutch.
But what i say and what i do is totaly diffrent. When i put on a brand new belt i just take it easy on the trails for 10-15 min then giver. Off trail i try to stick in some one elses track speeding up then backing down for a few min then off into the powder.
most of the time when off trail my spair belt is a belt i have already used for a day or so on the trail.

I ride for a few miles never holding the same speed as Scotty mentioned. I get great life out of the belts I broke in. Living on a river makes it easy to and I just take one of the kids with, keeps the temptation of WOT low, then again the 3yr old told me faster, faster and that was last year.LOL

Put her on and ride, just don't nail it till its warmed up.
I must also agree to lift the track so its not stuck to the ground. If the engine is warmed up for about 5-10 minutes prior to riding then the engine compartment will get the belt warmed up somewhat so it won't take very long to heat right up to temp.
