Hey all,

I know I posted something about this on the old forums, but I just wanted to repost it to see if I could get some new opinions, maybe from some new/different people?

As you know, in February my buddy hit my sled when I was up in Rhinelander. Thankfully, even though he was going rather fast, we were both fine. His sled however had some substantial damage (it was also a rental sled), and mine only had a seat tear.

The sled is a 1996 Indy 500 with 3100ish miles on it, and it is in perfect condition, aside from this. Any opinions on what I should do about the seat? Both temporary and Long-term fixes would be appreciated. I'd like to replace it, but that can get somewhat pricey, and for the age I don't know if it'd be worth it, but at the same time it really sucks that this is the only blemish on the sled, and so I'd like to get it taken care of.

If anyone has any opinions or anything, I'd appreciate them.

The pics I took just a few minutes ago, so the rip has been there all summer. I included some others so you can get some general idea of condition.

Any other feedback on the sled would be nice to. Has anyone owned these before? What kinda problems have you encountered? What kinda mods should be done?

I'm just kinda trying to figure out what my next move should be, so that's why I'm curious, and that's also why I love this site so much, I can learn from other peoples experiences, and maybe even mistakes :)

Thanks again guys.

As for the seat, try a dealer. Seriously, they may have a cover on hand, for not too bad a price. <$100. You will have to take off the seat, and remove the cover, and replace it with the new one, but its not too bad if you have a staple gun and some silicone. Maybe a rivet gun depending on how the trunk area is attached.

Im from Appleton and I would check Central Snowmobile salvage in Green Bay or check flea bay I would think both would be rather cheap.

you could try erickson auto trin in Madison. they can remove the damaged section and sew in a new one. it proubly won't be cheap, but they can do it.
