800 running hot

I have a 03 mxz 800 (old body) in less I'm running in good powder the hot light (edit light) comes on. I have flushed the antifreeze, new thermostat, tunnel, and flap are in good shape. A skidoo mechanic told me that this was normal.

That happens on my 600 classic also. I check my coolant bottle everyday before I ride.
Have to add about an ounce everyday but can't see any leaks and sled is running fine.

Sounds like you're not getting enough snow up under the tunnel to cool your heat exchanger.
May try Ice Scratchers, or add a small radiator under the hood.

The explanation i got from my dealer is skidoo cut the cooler size in half to save weight. i had the same trouble with my 03 500 mxz riding with the kids in the yard. The half size is in contrast to my 97 formula z which had no heating issues. Newer isnt always better i guess.

Better late then never i also have an 03 MXZ Rev 800 it ran hot since i got it found out the Y-pipe was cracked so check there or if yours also has a gage make sure you have the right sending unit in the head as there are two types i've found out.
