The sledding conditions in and around West Yellowstone unfortunatly remain poor. :( We had one good snowfall about 10 days ago, but it was a 24 hour event that was short lived. The storm did little to help our weak snowpack, but increased the avalanche danger. Trail grooming is very limited only on saturday and sunday, simply spreading around what little snow is on the trails. As it stands now, we are 6 feet below normal snowpack. There is some powder way up high in danger zones. Sleds are being damaged in record numbers from protruding rocks and stumps.
The streets remain a thin sheet of ice and snow is being taken from alleys and spread around to keep the carbides off of the pavement. The DUI crackdown has reached "the end of the road" and remains in effect and the police mean business. :mad:
