Anyone have an idea of how many miles this round trip would be? Say perhaps from Solon towards Brule towards Iron River, Corni, Valhala, Mason, Grandview back to Solon type of a loop? Looking from more twisties, than RR grades.
Any certain hot spots to stop at?

The guy you need to talk to gos by the name of bayfield rider. He owns a resort in bayfield and i'm sure he has made that run hundreds of times.

A few years ago we rode from gordon to brule over to valhala and back to gordon and that was 225 miles. Gordon being south of solon springs, so if you would add on the corni leg and cut back thru mason and grandview I'am sure you would be 250 miles plus. A overnight at the Lumbermans in iron river would make this a eaiser trip. Have a great ride. I'am in iron river most of the winter if I can help in anyway just contact me.

Actually we would be heading from our cabin which is in Town of Wascott. Cty Road T area. Looking to do a round trip of 225 to 250 miles or so. Perhaps we would skip the Corni leg. Perhaps we go Gordon, Brule Drummond, Mason up to Valhala, then take 31 back to Iron River, south to Brule, then back to cabin that might be a better loop?
Not sure, just looking for a nice ride. Whats the situation with gas up there? Plenty of places? I heard some places only take plastic and no cash?
Comming up the last weekend of Feb, and CANT WAIT!!!
Thanks for the info!!!

You will find plenty of gas stops and the only place I know that only will take a card is the Pub and Grub up near Valhala they also have very good food. Another good food stop would be at The Other Place in Iron River lots of parking for sleds and good gas [no corn] across the street. When we did that run we pulled out of Gordon around 9:00am Sat.morn and got back around 2:00am Sun. morn. You could look at Gordon to Brule over to Iron River and up to Valhala and then down to Mason and Drummond then back to Gordon. I would think if you come up to Brule and down to Drummond and back up to Iron River that would add 50 plus miles which would probably put you up around 300 for the day, which can be done but it is a long day.

TR27 to Brule is a very nice trail. We seldom ride TR1 north to PW, Herbster, Cornie for various reasons. If there is fresh snow, then it should be an OK route but you do ride ditch and a bridge west of Port Wing. TR1 between Herbster and Cornie is full of curves and a slow go. I would take Hwy2 Corridor east to Iron River, do the Old Baldy Loop, TR3/40, then head east on 40 up to TR19 east, TR51/1 east towards Bayfield. At TR1/31 its decision time. Whether to continue to Bayfield or turn south towards Valhalla. I suggest the latter as the conditions in/out of Bayfield are not good. TR31 to Valhalla will get you gas & great food. You may want to gas at Iron river. Gas at Valhalla is premium but you pay the high price. There is no gas in Cornie.
From Valhalla you have options. If TR40/3/31 was good I would go back that way to IR. TR31 from Valhalla to IR can be a bit iffy depending on traffic and I usually don't ride it. TR63 will take you to the Hwy 2 corridor which is a straight shot (15 miles or so) to IR.
From the Hwy 2 Corridor you have various options to get you way back to SS.
