Anyone else waiting for a WI registration sticker?... sent in my form and my check around the first of Dec. I knew it was received because the deposited my check so I assumed my sticker would follow shortly. Called today to confirm that scenario. No such luck. The woman told me some story about processing 500,000 deer tags or something like that which wouldnt be done til Jan 21st. Then and only then would they begin to process sled registrations! WTF is that?!! Im no hunter but isnt deer season long over? Woman said 6-8 weeks... a good chucnk of the season will be over by then. Never registered in WI before, do they always fubar the paperwork like this?

Understand your gripe.
Suggest you keep any, and all paperwork to prove you've paid.
With all that, you can ride legally.
We're still waiting.
That's what we were told to do.
Best of luck.

I did mine online and had the stickers 3 days later. You DO have to pay a fee for using a CC, but you get the stickys....

had i known... checks already cleared. nothing i can do now i guess.. sucks! dont really feel like being a target for being pulled over.
Make sure your paperwork is stamped paid by the dnr, if it's not, take it to a dnr office and get a validation stamp. I'm goin through the same deal right now with 1 of my sleds. In the future u can bet I'll be having all that jazz dun well n advance!

I sent my wife's reg in on November 19th. The check cleared the bank fairly quickly, November 28th to be exact. I still have no stickers and we leave Saturday. Last year mine came in less than 2 weeks. I'm bringing copies of my IL Registration, WI Application, the cancelled check and bank statement when it clear.

Best as I can tell, you can only re-new an existing registration on line, not apply for a new registration. If someone has a link to do new registrations please post it. I'm sure it would be helpful to many on this site. I see where you can purchase your Non Resident Trail Pass online but not an actual WI Registration. You cannot print out the trail Pass, you have to wait for it as they mail it back to you.

Thanks for the link RX! I wish I had posted a question about this or could have found the link on my own, before I went the snail mail paper route. Your info is much appreciated.
Maybe we could talk to the management about starting an Useful Information Page and put links like this as well as Do-It-Yourself or How-To articles written by some of our more knowledgeable Wrenches here on ST. Links to Articles on topics that come up every year could be posted like A Sticker Removal How-To by Howler  or DIY Wiring a Heated Shield and some of M7Limited's posts like the hyfax change out with pictures. Maybe a Carb Cleaning Tutorial by MScott and a Suspension Tuning 101 by Hiawatha. ;)
I have seen article pages on other sites that have been extremely helpful to me with my limited mechanical knowledge pertaining to snowmobiles. I know we used to have a thread on the old board called Howler Helpful Hints but a dedicated page rather than a sticky thread would be easier to use and easier to locate many of these topics. I would be more than willing to volunteer to administer the page if our webmaster already has a full plate.
Just an idea http://www.snowtracks.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gif, one STer's humble opinion.

If you carry your stamped paperwork from when you renewed/registered, its as good as a sticker. Heck, look at it this way, one less ugly spot on the hood for a few more weeks......

Hey Match,
I'm ok with that...it would also help the members. How bout we add it to the forums as a seperate catagory above web cams, that way the authors of the articles can post them when they want. Ok with you
Thanks
Bob

I think that would be great if it's not to much trouble for you guys. Hopefully some of those tutorial posts we had on the old board will be reposted by the original authors in the new section, if it comes to be. Thanks for your time and consideration regarding my request/suggestion.

I leave this early this Saturday to head up north, so the wife probably can't legally ride her, "new to her sled", until Wednesday as they are closed on Mondays and Jan 1 for the holiday? This would of course be only after I make a sixty mile round trip into the DNR Office in Hayward with my Wisconsin App and cancelled check that cleared over a month ago?

Tuesday thru Friday,

(Closed Monday)
My only real option then, is to spend an additional $18 on a trail pass and wait for my regular registration stickers, when they come in the mail, which from skeet's info from the DNR, may be after the season is damn near over ???
Anyone have any other options that may work for me?

Mark, did you already complete a WI DNR registration form for the newer sled? If so, just carry that paper work. That's what I'm doing.

Yep, but I have nothing other than a canceled check saying the DNR received my app. No Validation Stamp some are speaking of???

Last year same thing happened with one of my sleds. Sent in the registration in in early October, check cleared, December came around no stickers yet. I gave them a call, told them the check cleared and everything but they claimed I never sent anything in. I had to go get a statement from my bank showing the check cleared for an additional 25$. I said they should re-emburse me for the 25 bucks, they politely told me to get $%@$ed.

WI has usually been the quick one Il has always been the one i've had to wait for???

Last year same situation but I had the decals from WI in less than 2 weeks. Both my sled are registered in IL. I think I'll just buy a trail pass for this trip and not take the chance of wifey-poo getting a ticket. When The stickers come I'll remove the trail pass and go with the regular WI reg.
With past experience I really thought 6 weeks would have been plenty for WI. IL is usually a 3 month wait but there is none of the validation crapeeola. You just ride on a copy your app and canceled check until the stuff comes.
Live and learn. I should be a resident by the next go around which will probably bring a whole new learning experience for me!

Called the DNR office before I left for the weekend to ask what I needed to be legal without having a sticker yet. Woman claimed until I had a sticker it didnt matter what I did that I was breaking the law and would receive a ticket if caught. So I asked here to give me the number for the Game Warden in Adams County where I'd be riding. The Warden told me just to carry a copy of my application and I would be fine to ride. And he was right, got stopped by a Warden on Sunday morning. Me and two other in the group with purchased sleds were just fine and the Warden was plenty nice. Although not so nice to my buddy who forgot to buy a trail permit for his rarely used wifes sled which is registered in IL. Ticket was $186.00!!
