dim headlight

Friend is in northern Wi. Has problem with dim headlamp on 96 ski doo touring SLE w E/S. light dim except when he began to turn off sled. As ignition is turned off light gets bright. New stator last yr, tried ignition switch from his other sled.tried disconnecting accessories etc still does same.Any suggestions,he's checking grounds now. Is there a good spot to add a ground? Seems that turning ignition off would be giving it a ground which might be providing good lamp as its turns off. Thanks in advance.

ground to the engine best possible place ! check voltage at stator connection see what your voltage is . is this have electric start ? check voltage at battery when running . voltage regulator if it is electric start . is tail light good and bright and or stop light ??
possibly somthing stupid like a week bulb ?
