Im sorry yamaha'ers but the new phazers are the uglyest snowmobiles ive ever seen, i rode one last night and found you have very little wind protection and they sound like a 4 wheeler! yamaha seems to always boggle my mind, its like they dont get the the majority of the market is trail riders.

I agree to the extent that its not the prettiest thing but its one heck of a sled from what i have been told by the owners, Its good to think outside the box, and it seems to be picking up popularity honestly now that its in the second model year. To each there own though.

It kind of looked like the future of snowmobiles to me when I first saw it. Powerfull 4 stroke, aggessive stance, and plenty of travel. Granted, the wind protection and seat may be a bit off from the norm, but from what I've seen so far, they are a solid sled. Yeah, they look somewhat like a quad with skis, but I've seen plenty of quads with ADBovin track conversions in the U.P. that look worse.

Met a couple on the trails. Could barely hear them.
Seemed quite agile on the trails.
Not sure if I'd care to own one.

LoL you must not have ever seen the early 1970s cats I grew up with... Put me on there and it will look like someone stuck a rose in the septic field... These things are fun lil sleds to be-bop around on its too bad they could get the price down a bit more on em...
Well I can only afford one sled to bee-bop around on LOL
Ran into a DNR agent at MidCities last year picking up his Phazer. Had to bring it in for one of those Windshields Ponch from Chips had on his bike. He said it was one cold machine.
I have no problem with Yammi's. I'd go jap before I went Canadian....

Everyone i have spoken with (face-2-face) said they love the phazers and nytros, for ditch bangin and just playin around. Long trips its not the best out there due to the chill factor.

They are aren't the prettiest things but if you like that sort of bug looking thing then more power to you . Would have to ride one to find out more about it . I guess can't knock it till I've tried it .

I've heard the Yammie only got around 150 hp . Sounds like it could be a great ditch banger . But what type of mods did the Polaris and Cat have vs the Yammie ? I got a wedgie that knocks off my friends 1000 Apex . Then again it's the mods I got stuck into my sled .

my sled has a low fixed windshield (maybe thats why i always get frost bit) and i can tell the difference right a way when riding a sled with a regular windshield. i couldnt imagine riding a sled with no windshield. i do agree that the sled is ugly, but ive driven one, and it is light weight, takes corners well, the seat design makes for easy butt placement when ridinf aggresively, and it was not loud. over all it was a nice little ride. SKI-DOO 4 LIFE!

Bobbie you had better hope Ski Doo breaks into the 4 stroke market soon or you maybe riding on DINO's.LOL
I would love to see another company really sink some $ into 4 strokes.
Polaris, which is were my heart was, lost me. Yammi won me over and I won't go back to 2 stink. If yammi would lighten the sled up some more and put wider skis on to start it would be a awsome ride out of the box.
But Yeah its ugly, but not as bad a Ski Doo. Just my 0.02.

Was out riding to night and one the guys that joined in was on one and got the chance to ride it . Boy I'll tell you liked how it rode and handled .Just didn't like the fact of no windshield way to much pow getting to me . Had it off playing in the drifts and loved how it took them . Looks like a bug . Sounds really nice with a pipe and can .
Looks like a preying mantis, sounds like my lawnmower(27hp kohler) I think it needs one of them triples in it, then it would really b fun!

i love how all they talk about is dropping weight, atlest 75% of the market (including me) dosent really care, they want power and a smooth ride on a railroad grade trails. REV XPS ARE UGLYER THEN PHAZERS? hmmm rev xp = stelth jet looking but lacks wind protection, yami phazer = disformed dirt bike thing with skis and a track. i personally think the rev xp looks better, although i like the old rev in genral better.
Edit: is there a illinoise yamaha law or somthing? all the flat landers drive them lol.

I own a 2008 yamaha fx nytro, and to tell you the truth its not a bad sled yes it looks funny but it has alot of power. Personally i would rather be on a skidoo again, and will soon . But really its not a bad sled, you just have to like yamaha.

Ok now, i own a Phaser, and yes, it was so ugly i had to buy one. My last 4 sleds were 440 Ski Doos, last being a Rev. I will be honest in saying it,the phaser, was cold untill i solved this big problem with a high windshield. It's alot like my Rev, minus the hassles of the race sled part, and i love it. I do not like straight line railroad grade riding, so power is just fine with the speedo reading 90 mph, not radar. The front end pushed but i have that worked out, it also rides pretty nice. Now, my feeling is that a Rev may be better and maybe my next sled, BUT i love that 4 stroke!!! My 2 cents.

conclusion - phazer - a ugly dirt bike looking, but good riding and light weight machine. Best for very experinced riders. Over all the rev is better in my perspective, although polaris and arctic cat have the BEST trail sleds. 4 strokes - quite, underpowered at somtimes, need schedualed matnince. 2 strokes, louder, lighter, more powerfull, new 2's gas millage same as 4's, easyer to maintain, smell you'll come to love. I dont care what you say, the phazer is very ugly, yamaha is trying to be the future sitting over in japan playing tubas and banging on keyboards.

the phazer is extremely overrated
1) for long straight trail riding the engine is notorious for overheating (i know three people who experienced that as well as myself)
2) unless your a highly experienced trail rider or only go off jumps this sled is pointless. its top stock speed is 80mph. when i had my phazer i could never keep up with the group
3) i best compare this sled with an old "three wheeler" its very easy to dump this sled around turns if your not standing up and heavily leaning into the turns
i bought a phazer last year and really was disapointed. the engine just feels weak to me.
I give this sled a 7 out of ten. You really gotta be an experienced rider to enjoy this sled. Personally spend the extra two grand and get the nytro. that sled is the real deal. lastly i will say that the phazer and nytro suspension really save on your back when the trails get rough

I have a 05 skidoo ss that rips. And I bought my wife a 07 phazer last year late due to she hit a tree with her 04 gsx. I would rather ride her phazer anyday than my damn skidoo. My skidoo stinks and the damn company put ****ty shocks on it too boot. Just my opinion. Also I rode a new nytro, hands down best sled ever made. i ride woods and gravel pits so you can take it as you like....have fun sleddin.......

Yammis are ruling the four stoke market. cough cough, until now. 1200XR is gonna take a lot of money from yammie. They may look ugly to some but they are the future of snowmobiling. Look at all the good machines, even tho there is only one, SKIDOO. Best wishes to all you Polaris guys. I carry a tow rope just for you.

Well some of us Polaris boys take that shot to heart . I just hope you have a big pocket book if you plan on buying a first year model . While your in shop getting the bugs worked out me and my Polaris will be on the trail proving that the snow gods loves us . I know that everyone is entitled to their opinions this was about the Phazer and then the new Ski-doo , so where did Polaris come in . To me I would settle for a Yammie just because they have been around the 4-strokes a lot longer . Just my 2 cents !!!!

I will never buy a first year sled. I see them in the shop all the time. I don't want to be a test dummy. I was just poking fun at poo's don't take it to heart. They will have their time in the lime light sometime. And for that I can't see myself buying a 4 stroke anyways. Well until the treehuggers have their way. I don't care what you ride, as long as you ride.

Blah blah blah. Just get out and ride what ya got! Buy what ya like, ride what ya like. I'll stick to my bullet proof '02 MXZ 500 and be happy for a while. Would I buy one of those ugly Phazers?? NOPE. Personally, I haven't seen anything that really looks good to me from ANY of the big 4. I just like the feel and look of that big chassis and windshield out in front of me blockin' the wind. Yeah, I'll splurge one of these years again and get another DOO, but right now the GSX is the only one that appeals to me from any of the 4 makers. What can I say, I'm a loyal DOO fan.

I'm going to have to disgree with everyone who had a negative thing to say about the Phazer. I saw that one person said their friends Phazer over heated. Mine has overheated but that was when the snow was so hard packed that you couldnt get any snow to go onto the track, at the time I was with 2 other Yami's and 1 Polaris and 1 Ski-doo and I'm not lieing but all 5 of our sleds were overheating. I have gone 90mph (140kmph) max, couldnt get it to go any higher and I weigh 130. My unlce who is atleast 190 got it to go 127kmph. I have a tall windshield on it and I have no problems at all with the amount of wind that gets to you, it's not a windy machine at all.

Yea the 4 stroke sounds pretty cool actually and has lots of low end torque. Just rode my 09 MTX today and it performs really well.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally love the way the new Phazers look and if I were in the market for a new sled, a Phazer GT would be what Id buy.
