Took my Daughter to a safety class and she is now ready to give it a ride. (soon as snow returns) 45 kids/couple parents attended class. All passed. Did learn a couple things. For you boaters, the DNR did mention that all boaters will soon need to take a safety class and have there cert. on them. There is no age limit. The Illinois sled registration will be going up, and will go up in a 2 stage increment. Did not mention when this will happen. But in the near future. The IASC is running out of money compared to their output. He also mentioned that along with ALL the boaters needing to take safety class for all ages, expect that the sledders will be next to require this. Do keep in mind that none of this is in affect as of right now. Thanks to the Rusty Runners Snowmobile Club for putting on a great class. If anybody under the age of 16 hasn't taken one, i recommend that you take. Well worth it and it is required. Could save someone some $$$$ if ever stopped. Keep in mind this pertains to the state of Illinois.

Paul two of my kids also went to sled camp this year one be'n only 11 so when he turns twelve he'll get his sheepskin... I think that its a great class put on by great group of volunteers... BTW Illinois is not the only one that requires it you can add Mi,Wi, and Mn to the list...

Manditory boat class??? Hope they can find my records from the late seventies their prolly next to my bell bottoms and 8 track tapes somewhere...

Hey Dooed. You got any Arlo Guthrie in your collection of 8 tracks?
"Alices Restaurant" is a classic.

A few years back I took a class with the wife and kids also. Found it very informative not to mention slightly entertaining. We took it at a retailer of sled, quad and dirt/street bike gear and equipment. After the class the four of us went downstairs and got all of our sledding clothes. They had a sale going and there was a wheel you spin to get your discount percentage. My youngest son spun it and managed to get 40% off everything we bought. We saved a ton of money. I love that kid...I'd probably still love him without the discount.
