I was through there last month. Stayed in Freeport, north of Portland. The manager at a super 8 said there was no sledding in that area, however, plenty of sledding elsewhere.
Seems to me with all these different lotteries, some of the money could be used for recreational use as opposed to pay increases for govt. employees who already make more than they're worth. Not to mention all their fringe benefits.
I realize it takes more money, now a days, to maintain, and keep trails. The cost of fuel is a big factor. Wear, and tear on equipment, upgrades, breakdowns, insurance all way heavy.
I can see a $2.00- $5.00 increase every couple of years, but some states take it to extremes.
Volunteers with volunteered equipment is needed to offset alot of costs, but the politicians will still find some excuse for higher permit costs.
