A friend of mine is riding his “new” sled this year, a 1992 Ski Doo Safari LC. (463cc)
I have a couple of questions about this machine. First, can anyone tell me what the gas tank capacity is on this machine? He thinks it is only about 5 gallons, but I think for that year of a sled it probably has more around 10. Another gas related question: this thing just sucks the gas big time. I'm riding a 700cc with twin carbs and at a fill up, if I put in 3 gallons he is putting in 4. Doesn’t seem right. Also, it seems to go through plugs pretty easy; just the two times we’ve been out he has fouled the plug on the recoil side. He got this sled from his nephew, who told him he needs to start it and run right away without any warm up, which seems out of the ordinary for a liquid cooled sled. The reason behind that is to supposedly keep from fouling plugs. One of our thoughts is too large of a main jet. (Single carb)

One change we have made on this machine was to tighten up the limiter strap on the front of the suspension, because any time he hit the throttle the skis came off the ground. Makes me think that somebody had this machine that liked to adjust things without a full knowledge of the consequences. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

i would find out out what main jet is suppose to be in it.then take out carb and check what is in it. also need to know the correct setting for air fuel mixture. lastly maybe the rings are just wore out on it.
