My dad is gone

Tonight, athough I find it hard to find the words, I just wanted to drop a line and let the snowtrackers know that my father has passed away. Dad died of a massive heart attack while riding in the car to the airport with my brother, sister-in-law, and mom. They tried all that they could to ressisitate him until the paramedics arrived. I was called on my cell while they were working on him, and I will never forget hearing him gasping on the end of the line.

Many of you have met my father (fishfest), and I felt that he would want you to know. Hell, I don't even know if what I've typed is making sense right now, but I do know he's only been gone for a small time already, and I don't know how I'm going to move on. It hurts so much. I just wanted all of you to know that you need to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you every moment you can. I know that dad knew that I loved him, but I sit here regretting not saying it to him when I saw him this morning.

Please remember that we're all people in need, with feelings, and we all need to live with each other next time you post something that may offend.

I miss you daddy...and I'll never forget the things you've taught me....

Perry, I am so sorry to hear this. The father and son bond is truly a special one, yours more so than most, from listening to you speak of your father in the past. You'll never quit missing him, but I can assure you from past experience, these tears are eventually dried by smiles and even laughter from your memories of a special man. I’m sorry to hear of your loss thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I never met your dad but I know you and I know he was a good man. I have read your post a number of times no truer words have ever been said. I’m not sure when you lose someone close that you don’t look back and think that I should have or I could have. I know I have had those thoughts and feelings times before even when you know you are losing someone due to illness and knowing time is not on their side but still other things pull you away. I’m sure that you had many great times together with your dad just keep those memories close to your heart now and know that all of your friends are here for you now. I am also very saddened by this news. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
He must have been a great man, he raised a son of your caliber. I don't know a single person on this site who doesn't look to you as a leader and a positive influence. These are qualities passed on to us by those who are close to us. Obviously this tells us a great deal about your dad.
It will get tougher before it gets easier but as Maize said, keep your chin up and think positive. Any support you need, you know you'll find it here.
