Battery re-condition

Is there anyway to re-condition a battery that is actually new but was killed and sat dead for a while. I just got another sled and the battery was replaced but then died and was left dead It did not freeze and seems to hold a slight charge just curious what can be done.

Top off the cells wit distilled water throw down a 1 amp charger for smooth 24 hrs.... SG should be check and after that if its NFG replace it...

I have seen my brother put a alka seltzer tablet in car batteries and then give it a low amp charge..It has worked for him...not necessarily something I have done myself though.

I'm just gonna recycle it there is some corrosion on the cells inside so its probably toast.
