got this sled in spring. my other one was a 95 XLT special with 7500 miles on it. Knowing that i will upgrade in power but sacrifice a little handling is this a descent upgrade considering i got it pretty cheap?

Actually, you should get a little better handling out of the XCR on the trails. No sacrifice with an XCR vs. an XLT......

I had a 97 XCR 600 sp. It went a lot faster than I cared to, especially when following my ER Guide, the legendary Hiawatha Al.:p
Actually it didn't handle all that bad for me once Al and MScott did some adjusting on the limiter strap and suspension for me. I think you'll like it.
Speaking of MScott, where the hell is he? Anybody heard for him since the change-over?

I'm going to have to agree with the others, I don't think you'll be sacrificing any handling on the XCR vs the XLT. Good luck with your new ride!!

I had a 96 XCRSP, and a friend had a 95 XLTSPECIAL. We used to trade sleds during our rides together. My XCR was faster overall, but the powerband was much more narrow, and was best suited for lakes and straight lines. I had it for a long time, so I could really ride it hard in the corners. His XLT was a much better trail sled. Still pretty fast, and much wider powerband. It rode much softer, but felt a little diconected from the ground compaired to my XCR. However, it still handled real well, and maby better than the XCR. The only other advantage for the XLT is that it got 11-13 mpg, and my XCR got a really dismal 5.5-6.5!
